There are many times that people find that they want to change the decorations of one or more of the rooms of their house. However, since you are already living in that room, you are going to run into the issue of having to paint around your furniture. Then you run the risk of getting paint on your furniture. Therefore, once you have chosen your most soothing colors, you will want to try to take every precaution to protect your furniture from getting horrible paint stains. There are a couple of things that you can do to keep the paint from getting on your furniture, and if you want to make double sure that you protect your furniture from wayward drops of paint, then you should do all of these things.

Your Many Options

The first thing that you will want to do to make sure that your furniture is adequately protected when you are painting a room in your home is to carefully move all of your furniture to the center of the room. Obviously because you are painting the walls, then the most vulnerable area of the room is close to the walls. Therefore, if you move your furniture as far away from the wall to the center of the room, then you can keep the pieces as far away from the danger zone without having to move them out of the room altogether.

Sometimes even if you move your furniture away from the wall, there will be small drops of paint that somehow find their way to that area of the room. Therefore, another layer of protection that you can add is to put paint tarps over the furniture in the room. These tarps are made of plastic and are clear. These are going to be the best form of protection because you can get them as big as they need to be in order to cover all of the pieces of furniture in the room. This way even if you accidentally were to drip in that area of the room, then your furniture is going to be completely safe behind its protective covering.

The last thing that you can do to make sure that you do not drip paint on any of your furniture is just simply to be very careful while you are doing the job. You might think that since you have taken two precautions already that you can be a little bit more careless when they are painting. However, sometimes things can take every precaution and somehow paint can still get under that tarp. Therefore, you should be very careful. The best way for you to do this is to always know where the paint is when you are using it. This means that you need to be aware of where the paint can, paint brush, paint roller, and even where your hands are if they have paint on them are. This way you can be sure to know exactly where to put them so that the paint only gets on the walls.

With these tips you should be able to answer the question how do I protect my furniture during a paint job? As long as you do all of these things, you should not have any problem with paint getting on your furniture. Once the walls are completely dry, you can carefully take off the tarp and move you furniture back to where you want it. Then, you will be able to enjoy your newly painted room without having to clean up a bunch of drip spot on your furniture.
