How to Fix Loose Handles

The biggest issue with door handles is that overtime they will get loose from being used so much. Generally this will just be a case of the screws getting loose and needing to be tightened. There might be larger issues with your door handles that will require you to replace your door handles. If this is the case, you will need to make sure that you do extra research to ensure that you do not mess up the job when you are doing it. You need to understand how the handle works and how it will be installed on your door.

For the most part, fixing your loose handles on your doors will just be a matter of tightening some screws. You need to make sure that you have the correct screw driver so that you do not mess up the screw when you are tightening it. You also do not want to scratch the handle when you are doing this, so make sure you are extra careful. Once you have tightened the screws a little bit, check to see that the handle is tight enough.

If you find that tightening the screws on your handles does not work, you might have stripped screws. This issue can be resolved in a couple of different ways. The more affordable method would be to take your screw to the local hardware store to see if you can find matching ones. You can then test them to see if they will allow you to tighten up the handles better. If they still do not tighten, you will need to purchase new handles for your doors since the receiving end of the screws are probably stripped, as well.

Fixing loose handles in your home will be rather simple to do if you do your research first. If you have handles on your cupboards that are loose, you will want to try to see if you can simply tighten the screw. If you cannot tighten the screws, you will also need to see if you can replace the screws that are being used. If the cupboards themselves are stripped, you might be able to replace the screws with larger ones to ensure that they tighten into the cupboard doors easily.
