One of the most exciting things that a person can do is buying their first home. There are many benefits to buying rather than renting, but many people that choose to continue renting are the ones that enjoy the many amenities that come along with not being the owner of the property. Things like lawn care and snow removal are things that if you rent, then you do not have to worry about taking care of those things. If you like to have these services taken care of for you, then you might want to look into buying a house in a condo complex. Condo complexes make it to where you can own your condo unit, but the yard and everything outside it is taken care of by the condo complex itself. In order for you to decide if buying a condo is a good idea for you or not, you need to first look at the benefits of buying a condo.

The Benefits to Consider

The first benefit of owning rather than renting is many times you will be able to save money on your monthly payments. This is especially true if you are renting a townhouse or have a pet. Many times if you have a pet and you are renting, then your rent automatically is higher because of the damage that can be done to by the animal. In addition to having a cheaper monthly payment, you will be paying for something that you own. Then, once you decide to move out of a complex, you will be able get some of that money back that you put into it. Whereas, when you are renting, your money is just gone, and you will never see it again.

By moving into a condo complex, you will be getting many of the same benefits as renting. For example, one of the things that people love about renting is that they do not have to worry about keeping up with their lawn. They like that when the grass gets too high someone shows up and mows it. If you buy a condo in a complex, then you will still get your yard taken care of. Therefore, you will still be benefited because you own the property but will feel like you are renting because you do not have to take care of the grounds like an owner would have to.

A big concern that people have with homeownership are the hidden expenses. Things like home repairs can happen very fast and very expensive. If you rent and your roof is leaking, then you simply tell your landlord and they take care to get I fixed, but when you own the house, you are responsible for getting everything fixed. However, if you buy a condo, then portions of these home repairs are taken care of by the complex. For example, a roof repair would be paid for by some called a homeowners association that a condo complex would hold.

If any of these disasters happen to cause damage to your condo then you might wonder what is the best way to communicate with my condo complex to get these things fixed? More than likely many of the condos in your complex have been damaged, so the condo complex if probably aware. However, if the condo complex does not take care to fix the homes in a reasonable amount of time then you should be able to speak with someone on the complex board to get your needs met. This way you can own but still feel like you are renting.
