Avoiding Overdraft Fees

Having your own condo is a great experience that also comes with a number of responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is in regards to the money that you will be spending on things such as electric bills and monthly rent while living in that location. One thing that you never want to have to deal with when you are living in your condo will be overdraft fees. Overdraft fees are a great way to quickly ruin your credit and suck all of your money dry. You want to make sure you do whatever you can to avoid these in the future while you are living in the condo.

One thing that you will also want to consider is overdraft fees and your condo insurance. If you have condo insurance that has an automatic withdrawal, you will not want to have your condo insurance pull from your account when you do not have enough money. Having an overdraft to your condo insurance would not be a good thing. Not only would it look bad to your insurance company, but it would be damaging to your account since you would have to deal with overdraft fees. Make sure you avoid these as much as possible.

How to Avoid Fees

One thing that you can do to help ensure that you do not have any overdraft fees in any account that you hold is to simply maintain your account as much as possible. It would be a good idea to have a good control of your account activities at all times. While this does not mean that you have to start balancing a checkbook each week, something like that would not be a bad idea. You could set up a budget that you could follow to ensure that you do not get too low in your account, causing these overdraft fees.

If you are going to create a spending budget to assist you with your accounts, there are a number of different programs that you can use. You can do the simple paper and pencil trick, or you can use something that involves a computer or portable electronic device like a cell phone. No matter what method you choose to make a budget with, you just want to make sure you stick with it. That way you will never have to deal with overdraft fees at all since you will always know where your money is going each month.

Another good idea that you could use would be to include a buffer in your bank account to help with overdraft fees. This buffer would be a few hundred dollars or more that you never go below. If you stay above that amount, you will never have to worry about dealing with overdraft fees. This is because your account will always at least have that bare minimum buffer there to assist you at all times. You just need to make sure that your buffer is large enough to cover you should something happen in a particular month. You just want to have a buffer there for accidents that you cannot control.

Avoiding overdraft fees is a great way to help save you some money. Not only will you not have to worry about the money in your accounts as much, but you will not have to worry about your credit score getting tarnished. You will then be able to use your money however you want to in the future. Make sure you look at all of the different ways that you can to ensure that you avoid overdraft fees from your accounts.
